Morgan's words about their design inspiration:
"My main inspiration for this piece was to exhibit the relationship between symmetry and asymmetry, the concept of two opposing shapes joining to create something harmonious. The roundness of the sapphire and the points of the diamonds work together to make a new but balanced structure. Truly, in the end, I wanted the design to give fruition to the idea of two people giving pieces of themselves to each other, but rather than losing those parts, they're used to build something new and beautiful within each other. To love is to participate in the act of creation.
The idea of building something together is incredibly important to me. Every relationship demands compromise and sacrifice. When you're with the right person, anything and everything is possible. I especially like this piece because the sapphire and diamonds would be beautiful separately, but together they balance each other in a way that makes each others' beauty shine. That concept, to me, is at the heart of many wonderful relationships.
I have been an artist for many years and any time I start a project I am continuously thinking about what message I want to portray. I've mainly worked in paint, charcoal and graphite so designing a ring with the same goal in mind was a bit of a challenge. Hopefully my intended message resonates.
Now I am traveling the world and trying to spread my art as I go. My most recent project was painting a sapphic mural in Spain and will soon be traveling to Japan for an art residency. I hope with my art I can spread the love and awareness for queer people all over the world. As a non-binary artist, my hope is for my work to resonate with people that may not be represented in every day media, especially in countries where the queer community is still highly stigmatized.
I hope this ring can be a symbol of happiness and love for someone the same way it is for me. In the end, that's the heart of my goal as an artist. Being able to represent love and happiness in such a beautiful way."
In support of Morgan's work and their community, all profits from this ring will be paid to Morgan.
